Welcome to the Best Workplaces in Australia list for 2026
This year
128,405
EMPLOYEES ACROSS AUSTRALIA WERE SENT THE SAME WORKPLACE SURVEY
What came back was the list that can’t be bought
The answers your employees gave us about trust, fairness, recognition, pride and if leaders walk the talk are what put your workplace on the list. Here’s how to turn that into externally validated employer proof worth more than gold.
CONGRATULATIONS! All the work that your organisation put into building a high-trust workplace is being acknowledged on a globally recognised list, that’s a big deal. We pulled together 19 years of best-practice tips from other Best Workplaces to help you make the most of it.
When it comes to employer branding, this is one of the biggest, most externally validated opportunities many companies will get all year to put some real proof behind their company values.
We analysed two years of Australian Trust Index responses from hundreds of organisations to find what will predict whether someone plans to stay at a workplace.
Of the five themes we measure, Pride was the strongest indicator for retention. The single statement inside Pride that predicted it most precisely was: “I’m proud to tell other people that I work here.”
Pride is all about what an employee will say about your company outside the office, and making this year’s list is an incredible opportunity to give them something to talk about.
When your CHRO posts on list day and 200 employees reshare it, those 200 people have just told their networks they are proud of where they work. The best retention work you will do this year could just be the announcement you were already planning to make.

Use the hashtag
Add #BUAU2026 to all your LinkedIn and Instagram posts so you get pride of place among the 99 other high-trust, high-profile employers that made the list.
You can also create your own hashtag like this year’s best workplace in the large category, Specsavers, #bestworkplace and #specsavers which lets your people find their team-mates posts too. -
Get the C-Suite posting
LinkedIn gave us the exclusive on what gets the most traction from a list announcement and that, hands down, is posts from the C-Suite’s own profiles, not just the company page. A few sentences on why the result means something to them and their people will do the trick!
-
Make everyone feel seen
No employee post goes unanswered. From the mailroom TikTok to the SLT LinkedIn brags, everyone who posts about your place on the list gets a like and a comment on the same day.

Tenders and RFPs
Procurement questionnaires usually ask about workplace practices, staff turnover, modern slavery and culture. An independently verified culture result turns a paragraph of assertion into a piece of evidence.
Google tip. When top talent asks an AI assistant what your company is like to work for, it answers from sources it can find, and independent ones outside your own website carry more weight than your careers page copy. A listing on greatplacetowork.com.au is exactly that kind of source.
03 / Exclusive Best Workplaces insights report
This year we took all our survey data from the hundreds of companies that were assessed for the Best Workplaces List and benchmarked it against a separate study of typical Australian workplaces.
Representing 128,405 employee voices, that data gave us a like-for-like comparison of what a Best Workplace looks like against the national baseline for things like Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride and Camaraderie.
This is independent research and benchmarking that carries real weight.

Action: Pull the two or three data points or quotes that speak loudest to your own strengths and use them in EDMs, on your careers page, in a blog post, in job ads, on an all-hands slide, or in your board pack.
04 / Go deeper with a case study
Candidate-facing proof you just can’t generate yourself, a case study is Great Place To Work describing your culture, in our words, on our domain. If you’re one of the workplaces that’s been invited to do a case study with us, the month around the list release is the perfect time to get one out.
-
Why they’re great for employer brand
These workplace profiles end up ranking on Google for your company name paired with phrases like “culture,” “employee benefits” and “what it’s like to work at.” Which are the exact searches top candidates will run before they apply.
-
How they work for search
Case Studies give you a link from an established domain and a page you can cite in tenders, board packs and recruitment marketing. They also feed AI answer engines a third-party account of your workplace, and your employer value proposition.
Action: Promote promote your case study within two weeks of the list announcement, when interest in the list and related workplace-culture searches is at its highest. Acting early helps establish your company’s case study as a credible, long-lasting source of evidence for prospective candidates, clients and partners.
